Mysuru Police Band

 

The Palace band was originated under the Great patronage of His Highness the Maharaja Sri. Krishnaraja Wadiyar Bhaddur IV. These palace bands ( Indian Orchestra and English band) were integrated to the Police Department in the year 1951. The Sanctioned strength was 56 and 34 respectively. These bands were called Mysuru Police band in the first instance and then renamed as Mysuru Government Orchestra.

SERVICES OF THE BAND

  • Government Functions( Banquet, Tea etc)
  • Palace Functions ( Dasara and Other functions)
  • Police Sports
  • Visit of V.I.Ps & V.V.I.Ps
  • Other functions as per orders of the I.G.P.
  • Karnatic Band is being played at the Krishna Raja Sagar on the 2nd Sunday every month on payment by the Director of Tourism in Mysuru
  • The English and Karnatic bands play in the several parks of the city on every Saturday and Sunday
  • Functions on payments: These two Bands are spared in Payment subject to the conditions down in the enclosed G.O. no HD 6-MGO-57, dt 16/17-4-1957
